  45. With this innovative and powerful new accelerator a 
  46. new dimension of performance is brought to the Big 
  47. Box Amiga, with performance increases of multiple 
  48. times beyond the performance of the fastest 68k 
  49. based accelerators available today, for a 
  50. competative price that is perfectly targeted at the 
  51. power user.
  52. <p>
  53. Primarily being designed as an upgrade board for 
  54. existing Amiga systems, the Cyberstorm PPC Board 
  55. incorporates phase 5's innovative dual-processor 
  56. technology, where a fast PowerPC RISC processor 
  57. is combined with a 68k processor. In the case of the 
  58. Cyberstorm PPC Board, a choice of 68040-25 or 
  59. 68060-50 CPU. The CPUs dynamically share the 
  60. memory and system busses, which is necessary for 
  61. a true multiprocessor behaviour. While the original 
  62. AmigaOS 3.x continues to run on the 68K CPU (as 
  63. well as all existing applications) providing 100% 
  64. compatibility - the PowerPC 604e CPU is supported 
  65. by a comprehensive PPC Library developed by 
  66. phase 5, which provides all functionality to integrate 
  67. the PowerPC into the Amiga multitasking 
  68. environment. Software developers can easily 
  69. optimise their programs step by step by porting single 
  70. tasks to PowerPC code, which then can run parallel 
  71. with 68k tasks. Many important Amiga software 
  72. vendors are preparing ported or optimised versions 
  73. of their software packages already, so it is expected 
  74. that a large quantity of software products supporting 
  75. the PowerPC will be available soon.
  76. <p>
  77. This Cyberstorm PPC Board is available with the fast 
  78. PowerPC604e processor at a clock speed of 
  79. 233MHz. Also on the board is a 68060 processor at 
  80. a clock speed of 50mhz. Also provided is a fast 
  81. memory expansion option which uses standard 
  82. PS/2 type SIMMs. The memory is dynamically 
  83. shared by the two CPUs on the Cyberstorm PPC 
  84. Board. A fast Ultra Wide SCSI-II interface is 
  85. available on the PPC Board allowing you to connect 
  86. upto seven SCSI devices and enjoy transfer rates of 
  87. upto 40 megabytes per second. 
  88. <p>
  89. A maximum of 128 megabytes of memory can be 
  90. fitted to the four SIMM sockets. Memory SIMMS 
  91. can only be added to the Cyberstorm PPC board in 
  92. pairs (Two at a time) as the bus is 64bits wide.
  93. <p>
  94. With it's fast 604e processor the Cyberstorm PPC 
  95. Board provides blistering performance that can 
  96. compete with most of the fastest PC systems 
  97. available today. With this performance the 
  98. Cyberstorm PPC Board is ready for the most 
  99. demanding applications such as 3D rendering and 
  100. high-speed 3D gameplaying, image manipulation, 
  101. animation, video applications, and many other 
  102. demanding applications that depend on fast CPU 
  103. performance.

  105. A standard Amiga A1200 runs at a speed of around 
  106. 1 million instructions per second. The 68060 in the 
  107. PPC Board is capable of close to 40 MIPS, while 
  108. the 233mhz 604e processor is running at over 350 
  109. MIPS.
